Get ready for the Fairytale Baddies and Spooks!

Fairytale Farm's Halloween Event 2017Our family-friendly Halloween event is almost upon us and this year it will be a distinctly fairytale-themed event. But all of the nice fairytale characters have been banished away, leaving only the fairytale baddies. Designed with young children in mind, the event runs every day from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th October, with free games and activities for all the family.

This year, we have free pumpkin carving (one per child), spooky biscuit decorating and an opportunity to get creative in our colouring corner by entering the on-site competition. If visitors come dressed up for the occasion they will receive a free treat, and when darkness falls at weekends, visitors will be able to enjoy our famous illuminations for no extra charge. We also have face painters on hand every day to turn your child into their favourite Halloween spook for a small charge.

We will also be running a spooky photo competition, where we encourage visitors in fancy dress to photograph themselves in a spooky location at Fairytale Farm and post it on Facebook. The most spooktacular photo will win a prize.

And we have a special late night Halloween event on on Saturday 28th October, where we combine the excitement of our illuminated gardens with Halloween activities to create a truly memorable evening out. Visitors arriving after 5pm can take advantage of our special ‘Illuminations and Supper’ all-in farm admission and food package and will be able to join in with the extra Halloween activities, as well seeing the farm and having a stroll through the illuminated Enchanted Walk. Special evening activities will include a workshop where children can make their own potions and spells ready to cast on All Hallows Eve, and a spooky story corner. (Note that those who have paid the full admission price earlier in the day can stay on and see the illuminations free of charge, and all the hot food can be purchased individually from our Beanstalk Cafe). Photo of the Fairytale Farm illuminations 2017

Don't miss our Illuminations on Saturdays and Sundays from 14th October to 17th December, and every day from 20th December to 24th December.

The Farm will be open all day as normal, but when daylight fades the entire Enchanted Walk will become a magical wonderland of fairy lights, which will delight children and adults. The Mermaid Garden, Giant's Camera, The Extinct Band, Giant Party Poppers, and Light Fountains will be a blaze of colour and the Hex Water Fountain will be lit in ever-changing colours. We also have new and updated features that were not part of last year's line-up, and our Fairytale Street will be illuminated.

'Illuminations and Supper' packages...

We will be opening the Farm until late on 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd and 28th October to celebrate the switch-on of the Illuminations, when we will stay open until two hours after dusk. On these special event nights we will be offering an all-in farm admission and food package. Our 'Illuminations and Supper' package is available from 5pm for £6.00 per person. This price gives evening entry to the Farm (with a chance to see the animals if you arrive promptly at 5pm), a soup with crusty bread or hot dog plus a hot or cold drink, and finish the evening with a stroll through the illuminated gardens after the lights switch on. A truly magical evening for the whole family. You can buy these in advance here for only £5.49 (a saving of 51p per person from this already discounted price). Note that the animal area and playground closes at dusk so please arrive as soon after 5pm as you can if you want to see these parts of the park before the illuminations switch on.

Fairytale Farm is England's fastest-growing farm park

Mermaid FountainFairytale Farm was England's fastest-growing farm attraction in 2016, according to official figures just released by Visit England.

Visit England's 'Annual Survey of Visits to Visitor Attractions', which was published this month, shows that Fairytale Farm grew by 35.7% in 2016, compared to the previous year, more than any other attraction in the 'Farm' category.

Owner Nick Laister says: "Everybody at Fairytale Farm is delighted to find out that we grew more than any other farm in the Visit England survey. I think this is almost entirely down to the hard work of our staff, who are the friendliest you will find at any attraction, big or small. This means a lot to me because we were the first attraction in the UK to be designed with disabled children in mind as well as those who are not disabled, so we are open and accessible to all. This had not been done before, and it is really fantastic that our idea seems to be working so well."

Mixing classic fairy tales, animals and adventure play, Fairytale Farm is loved by children of all ages. With an exciting adventure playground, the Enchanted Walk with a surprise around every corner, as well as a chance to meet their amazing animals, there is so much to see and do at the Farm.

Nick explains that the Farm is a sensory and learning wonderland for all the family: "Race a rubber duck along our pump-powered waterway or see a family of mice going about their daily business in our beautifully crafted indoor model village. Where else can you meet mermaids, rabbits, sleeping beauty, alpacas, rheas, sea horses, ducks, chickens and magic?"

This year is expected to see more growth, with the addition of loads of new attractions for 2017, Nick explains: "We are already over 30% up on last year, which is fantastic, so 2017 should see a repeat of the growth we had in 2016. This is largely due, I think, to word of mouth about our new attractions. We had brand new interactive features along the Enchanted Walk where visitors can press a button and find out what happens. Our visitors can also now have their picture taken by our Giant's Camera and send it to themselves by email. We have revamped our unique Mouse Town, so visitors can experience the family of mice in a whole new light. We also have new animals in ‘Alfie & Friends’, our animal zone, including our new rare breed pigs who look like sheep with their curly coats! And we have a new ice cream kiosk in our adventure playground - called 'All Things Nice' - selling soft ice cream, slush, lovely coffee and much more."

Easter Egg-stravaganza at Fairytale Farm

We are holding a unique Easter event right through the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend (14th to 17th April). Our Giant Rabbit Burrow is open all weekend (until 4.30pm on Easter Monday), so come along and meet the Easter Bunny. Visitors can explore this indoor Burrow, meet the Easter Bunny, listen to the Bunny telling an Easter story and every child will receive a full size Easter egg. There is lots more to do at Fairytale Farm this Bank Holiday weekend, including an Easter Egg Hunt and a chance for kids to colour our Easter pictures. There will be egg-shaped cookies to decorate and there is a giant golden egg to be found, which the Easter Bunny has hidden away somewhere on our Enchanted Walk trail.

And you can meet our latest arrival, a baby lamb. There will be opportunities to pet the lamb (and, on a first-come-first-served basis, to bottle feed her).

Burrow admission is £3.25 per child, including Bunny Tale and Easter Egg. (Standard farm admission charges apply).
